Riding a bike

I don't where to post this but wanted to share just because I was so shocked ...
Last weekend I decided to get my daughter riding her bike. She is 6.9 years, DS was riding without stabilisers by 4. Anyway, at the end of August, the last time she went on a bike, she got on rode about 1m then fell off. This happened a few times before being stung on the hand when she landed on a bee [:(]. So last weekend out we went again, no stabilisers, got on wobbled, managed 4 or 5m. Then off she went again and rode her bike - braking, setting off herself and going down pretty big and 'exciting' hills.[:)]

They just never cease to amaze me, how they develop differently and how they mature. This is what childhood should be about!!

Well done to your DD. Smile
My DD2 shocked me at age 2 1/2 when she rode her bike without stabilisers!

Ooohh that's good. Is she physically good and into sport?
Mine isn't, too arty and crafty. I am just glad we can now go on bike rides as a family. [:0]

I think it was just down to balance. She had had a scooter for a while before that which she rode often. She is 6 now and likes to cycle 1 handed! She terrifies me lol!

My ds 6 had a likeabike and the very first time he rode a bike aged 5.3 he just did it wonderful really and now he does about 25 miles a week to and from school.
It will be interesting to see how his little sister gets on.

I could have written your post! Last time my DD (5.11) went for a ride it was the usual story, with her giving up after 5 minutes, and then last Sunday DH tried again with her and she was off! I thought he was exaggerating when he told me, but no - by jove she's got it. Amazing how it just 'clicks' and she is just so happy to be doing it!

We went on a two mile bike ride this afternoon! Both DD and DS thought it was great. Grin
