My 15 month old son has never cried tears. His eyes are not dry he just doesn't cry tears. Any health professional I ask about this seems to be stumped. Anyone else experienced the same thing?

How bizarre. The only time my DD didn't produce tears was because she was so dehydrated Sad.
To put your mind at rest, I would ask my GP for a referral to a paediatrician or ocular someone. Maybe he has a tear duct disorder or is just a happy soul.

My dd1 didn't cry tears until she was around 2. She's 7 now and still rarely crys tears she makes the noise but doesn't produce tears that often. All through her baby jabs and holiday jabs she didn't even flinch! She's a tough cookie now, it's something we've never thought about to be honest it's just how she is. I'd give it a bit longer and if none by age 2 get it looked at x

Ds didn't cry with tears (as far as I can remember) until he was about 18m! He did vent his anger in other ways tho such as head banging and breath holding.

Thanks for the reply's. DS too is a tough cookie but I know he still does genuinely cry when he is hurt. Heaven help me when he realises he can put on a fake cry and i have no idea as no tears!!! I am not too worried but is nice to have some reassurance. I think I will wait for a while and see what happens. Maybe he will just be like Chandler from friends!!! Thanks!

My DS1 is like this. Every HV or doctor we have mentioned it to has been very confused. Like your DS he doesn't have dry eyes - his eyes make enough moisture to keep them clean and infection clear. When hurt or emotional he cries, but there are no tears! He's 9 now and still does not shed tears and presumably never will. It doesn't seem to matter and I don't think it's ever occured to him to fake cry. When starting pre-school and school I mentioned it to the teachers so they wouldn't think he was faking it. But it's never caused any problems - he doesn't suffer from eye infections and his eye sight is excellent. In fact the only scare it ever caused was when DS2 started shedding tears I was convinced that there was something wrong with HIS eyes when they went all wet!

DD1 didn't cry tears very often for the first few years. SHe cried loads, just not tears! Something about the tear ducts being so narrow apparently. My MIL thought it ment that she was just putting it on and should be ignored Hmm
