cot to bed, help!

DS climbed out of his cot tonight so we've put him into his big boy bed. He's screamed his heart out and has finally passed out on the floor.

What do I do????

Just go and put him into bed, it can take some getting used too.

We 'bigged up' the big boy bed for quite a while before he went into it, let him choose his duvet (even if it is horribly bright and not at all what I'd have picked!),and did a lot of praising him about what a big boy he was to him and told other people in front of him etc etc. Did require quite a lot of reassurance for first week or so and now about month later he is fine and loves it. Each night got easier. We also put up a barrier - lindum I think- which seemed to make him feel more secure and made me feel a bit better that he wasn't going to fall out too!
