6-year-old holding her front bottom!

Hell all,
my 6-year-old keeps holding on to her front bottom, as though she wants to go to the toilet.
i've talked to her and she says nothing hurts, or itches. i've taken her to the docs this morning, who had a look and confirmed no infections etc.
this has been going on for over a year so it's not washing powder or cheap pants etc.
so now i need to tackle it.
How?
I think it's a comfort thing, but she says she doesn't even know when she's doing it. she wants to stop, although she's not much bothered.
she's otherwise fine, happy, bright with no other problems, doing well at school etc.
any ideas?
cheers
angela

It probably is a comfort thing, as it feels nice. I think just a gentle reminder when you see her doing it, and stating that yes, it does feel nice, but it's a private thing so she needs to do it in her room would suffice.
