Dear all, my little one has developed really bad separation anxiety when I take her to playschool, clinging and crying saying she doesn't want to go, I literally have to run out of the door. When I go to get her her she is happy & fine and the helpers say she has been perfectly ok during the session. She attends two diff playschools and problem same at both. a couple of friends have same problem. Is it that she has just outgrown it ? Am worried at how she will react when she starts school in Sept, any tips or advice welcome x P.s She will be 5 in October so one of the older ones at school.

The No-Cry Separation Anxiety Solution by Elizabeth Pantley has loads of good ideas. It's aimed at children up to the age of 6.

My ds1 was the same when he started his nursery. I would take him in and he would scream and cry and wouldn't want me to go, I'd have to leave really quickly and the teacher would take him over to the carpet.
He was fine when dp took him and better when a friend of mine took him.
So, my friend took him to nursery for a few weeks until he had really settled in just to break the pattern of the crying. The I started taking him again and he was fine.
