How can I encourage my eleven month old baby to pull her self up from lying to sitting and from sitting to standing

My daughter will pull up on me if I say give me your hands but will not take initiative herself!! I am especially worried about the lying to sitting, in the morning she just lies there until I go in and make her pull up on me!!

This may sound really stupid but I taught my daughter to crawl by litterally getting down on the floor beside her and getting her to copy me. I am not sure how you would translate that to your baby but perhaps you could both lie on the floor together and you could encourage from there??? I am not mad- honest. Good luck

She'll get it in her own time, don't think you need to encourage her.

Sirzy · 14/05/2011 21:53

Don't rush her, when she is ready she will do it :)

Ds was the same then one morning I found him stood up in his cot happily peeping over!

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 14/05/2011 21:56

She will, give her time. You'll be wishing she would just lie still for half an hour soon!

I could have posted this yesterday but today DD2 (also 11 mth) just decided to do it. Agree with Sirzy - they just do it in their own time. Providing you are not concerned about her development generally (doesn't sound like it) then don't worry. I look back and laugh at the 'rolling practice' I did with DD1 to get her to meet her 'milestones' -completely unnecessary, what was I thinking?! V glad no-one else saw me!

Goodness I now feel like a prat. I thought everyone rolled about on the floor etc

drivingmisscrazy · 14/05/2011 22:10

I too have an embarrassing teaching DD to roll story in my past Blush. Needless to say she is perfectly fine now and working hard on climbing out of her cot...

Thank goodness, I was starting to think I was going mad. We also took all the cushions off the sofa to make a kind of run way on the living room floor to practice walking. My husband was equally keen on doing this so I thought it was perfectly acceptable......
