how much do people play with their children?

My three and half year old has never been good at playing on his own, always preferring someone to play with. I also have a five month old so he has had to become a littlle better at it recently but still it's constantly "play with me mummy!". Obviously I play with him as much as I can but there's his brother to change, feed, settle, play with etc so it's not always possible. Still we have a good half hour to an hour in the morning and the same in the afternoon (I'm talking about one to one play on the floor in the house rather than running around the park). Sometimes more on a good day. But it does get a bit tiresome to have him constantly asking and then he often refuses to play at all if I can't play with him.

Other children I know his age play on their own for hours. Would be v interested to find out how long other people spend playing with their children as often feel like a horrible mum having to say for the third/fourth time that I have to go and do something else and wouldn't he like to play on his own for a little bit...!!?

He goes to nursery one and half days a week as well.

Any advice/experience welcome!

sounds like you play a lot...I have to admit that I often get bored playing cars with my DS, so rarely do it. I do try and sit down to play a family game or an orchard toys game at some point during the day but i find it hard.

I honestly think you're doing a good job by the sounds of it, please
don't worry.
