hi everyone was just wondering about different types of disapline and what everyones thoughts are, either when the child is at home or what you're choice of childcare (childminder, nursery) does about disapline? Thanks

hi, ds1 goes to 5 2.5 hrs playschool sessions a week and I seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet as them in that we have a zero tolerance on violence attitude and that includes us towards him. We don't hit him and so expect him not to hit us. Ok doesn't always work he gets cross sometimes and lashes out but it's usually when he's tried. If he does overstep the mark anyway he gets the old time outs. Which TBH don't seem to work, just give him more time to brood and come back in an even worse mood . Still he's a man, they're all a little unusual aren't they?

LOL - my ds gets worse after time out. Defo doesn't work for me - he's so stubborn!!!

Will watch this thread with interest as looking for alternative methods!

my dd is 6 and i warn her then if she carrys on i tell her to sit on her chair for 6 minutes other methods are stickers if she gets so many i take her to the adventure kingdom (a bit like the wacky) or i wont let her watch her favourite tv show she watches two programmes a day unless she misbehaves then theres going to bed early and if none of these are working i will take things from her bedroom i.e. stereo until she proves she deserves to get it back but what im wondering is as parents what would you think is acceptable punishment while your child is being cared for by a professional i.e. childminder (as im hoping to become one next year) and i would like to improve on dealing with behaviour issues.

Thanks
