Moving house - is this the issue??

In 9 wks we're moving closer to schools (15 miles away) - I can do the treck no longer. DS (9) has become really - well - weird. He takes 45 min to get downstairs in morning, apologises grumpily - won't get ready for bed at night - in the end we sometimes give up & leave him without putting to bed - which he hates - because it seems he's incessantly taking the mick.

Is it hormones? Is it the move? He does get very attached to things? Or something else? I've stopped stropping 'cos there's obviously something going on, but can't work it out.

Anyone been through it, are there any books that you can share with a 9Yr old that aren't condescending/too young?? Is it something else? DD (6) will be sad but equally excited.

Probably a mixture of the two. We are having the same thing at the moment. Me and DD are moving 1000 miles to be closer to her new school. DH is staying here in Antwerp for another year at least.
DDs behaviour has deteriorated enormously. She won't go to bed, won't get up, won't put her washing away, won't eat her breakfast/lunch/dinner and is generally being horrible.
She is 10 on Thursday so I think it's a mixture of hormones and fear. She knows it is the right thing to do and is happy that she will be in the same country as my family for the first time.

Aah that's so good to hear. Ditto he knows he's finally going to be close enough to school mates to meet up much more frequently but all the same it's still been his home for 6 years and I know I'm going to miss it, I just wish I could think of a way to help him through. Good luck with your little villain Wink & the move
