Im sorry, I have no idea with boys, have lots of nieces and sisters but no boys! I was just curious as to why you got your son circumsized? I was thinking about this as my partner had to be when he was around 10, not many people seem to do it or talk about it? was it for a medical reason or your choice? x

firstsupermum · 03/05/2011 20:58

thank you, its a religious reason, all the muslim and jewish do it, it just take the extra skin off actually, it has no relation with the its size now, as i did it when he was a little, but just i dont know why in 2years it still seems small.

Boys willies are generally pretty small in comparison to the rest of them until puberty, no? That's my understanding...could be wrong though.

Mummyloveskisses · 03/05/2011 22:47

Hi there, My DS1 is now 13years and had a relatively small penis until around 11/12 then puberty did start and it grew. There really isn't anything to worry about.... oh and my son was circumsized too (medical reasons) and it didn't have anything to do with the size.

MrsSylar · 03/05/2011 22:53

My ds has an incredibly small penis. He is 10 and his willy is just about an inch long and very thin. has anyone else's ds got one as small as that

ShatnersBassoon · 03/05/2011 22:56

It's nothing to worry about, and has no bearing on their potential size. Most young boys' penises look small. They're just for weeing for the time being.

firstsupermum · 03/05/2011 22:58

Mummyloveskisses thank you a lot, i am a bit relax now, as my DH keep worry me about it.

I think I am just a bit worried that it won't grow when he hits puberty. I have never seen a willy as small as his, even on a new born. I do lie awake at night worrying about this - aargh!

firstsupermum · 03/05/2011 23:02

thank you all, that was very helpfull Smile

actually there are conditions such as micro penis, which is (as it sounds) a very tiny penis, and i think it can be treated with hormones.,

so it may be worth a trip to the GP to get it checked over. although with a 19 yr old I am not sure how you would do that without making him VERY self-conscious.

Mummyloveskisses · 03/05/2011 23:09

MrsSylar my DS1 (13years now) was about the same size as your DS's maybe slightly bigger but not much and then by 13 it was suddenly there.... not massive but looking more a size I would have expected.... as a girl it isn't ''normal for us to know this stuff'' oh and incase anyone is wondering my son has no embarressment walking from his bedroom to bathroom naked, this is how I know its growing, but since obvious differences in puberty and with a 3.4yr old DD around he has to cover up!

firstsupermum · 03/05/2011 23:11

i did take him to the GP, but he said its normal, Confused, as i know its has to be longer than that, i am a child care practionner, i change a children's nappies, never at 2years i saw one that small as fare as i remember, but at that time i didnt had children.

there is something else called "buried" or "hidden" penis, which IIRC can be worsened by circumcision because the foreskin is no longer there to prevent the penis becominng more "buried" iyswim?

if you're really concerned then see a different GP, because it it IS that then there are things that can be done. Of course there may well be absolutely nothing wrong with your son, but you need your mind putting at rest

TheVisitor · 04/05/2011 13:30

Boys willies tend to look teeny till puberty.

firstsupermum · 04/05/2011 21:11

thisisyesterday just to let you know that circumcision has nothing to do with it, i did checked him in deffirent dorctors here and above, and all the muslims men must do it we know that doesn't have no side effect if its been done by professionals (doctors specilase for it). so i am not worried about that, i just mention it incase some will think that it may be hidden under the extra skin.

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 04/05/2011 21:51

yes, sorry i didn't mean that the circumcision could cause it, just that it can make it look worse if your child already has a "buried" penis iyswim.

firstsupermum · 05/05/2011 00:35

thisisyesterday dont worry, i know you didnt mean that, and thank you for your advise.
