Discharge in 8 year old dd

I have noticed recently a bit of staining in dd's knickers that looks like vaginal discharge. She was 8 in January. Is this a sign that puberty will be starting or just something that all girls have?

She's my middle dd, my oldest is nearly 10 and I'm just getting used to her starting a few changes. I know puberty is starting earlier these days but 8 seems v young.

i was probably about that age with discharge, but ten nearly eleven with periods.. there are advantages of being early - i got spots at about 12 but they were gone by 15 when i actually cared more about boys and stuff.

Dd has had discharge on and off since she was 8 (10 today). Some pubes, bumps for boobs and spots plus she's getting very curvy. No signs of periods yet but terrible mood swings.

my step daugther had a period at 9yrs, so dont be suprise if this happen, as i was, i had mine at 13, i never heard about it before 11, thats way i was surprise, but it can happen.

DD (almost 10) has this on and off and has done for a couple of years. No signs of any breasts or pubes, but the most astonishing mood swings.

so glad you posted this. my dd, 7 has the same.

she is very tall for her age...i'm sure that periods can only start at a certain weight or body mass? maybe i'm wrong, but i figured if thats the case, my poor dd might be starting before some of her class mates.

god...i hope its a good few years off yet!

Hi I'm in exactly the same situation as Dancergirl - a just-turned 10 year old in the very early stages of puberty, which was a shock but is settling down, and now my nearly-8 year old has had some yellowy/light browny discharge. Really hoping this isn't a sign of anything changing because she is practically a baby. Thinking back I think it's something that's happened very occasionally most of her life, but now I'm worried it means she's going to be one of those precocious developers... It doesn't smell or look like an infection. Do you think I need to take her to the doctor?
