11 week old and daytime sleeping

hi all

hoping someone can offer some advice / tips to deal with daytime sleeping. My 11 week old sleeps well at night and settles himself quite happily after his last feed etc, however he is difficult to settle in the day. If we are out for a walk he doesn't want to sleep in his pram for very long even though he is clearly very tired, if we go over a bump in the pavement he will wake crying and will not settle himself, so i have to pick him up to console him.

If we are in the house he will only drop off in my arms, if i then put him down he will wake a short time later. I love cuddling him but don't want to create a problem here. I know he will sleep on his own because he manages it at night, he is like a different baby in the daytime.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice would be gratefully received Smile

cheers

Hi my son was the same (apart from didn't sleep at night either!) and absolutely hated going out in pram, doesn't like pushchair now either and hes 10 months old. So that never worked for getting him to sleep. Only thing that worked for me was making sure that he never got overtired so only awake for 1-1.5hrs before I tried to settle him for a nap, any longer and I would have a nightmare getting him to sleep, and also putting him in bouncy chair with vibrate on seemed to help to make the naps a little longer (plus dummy). Don't know if any of that helps :-)

hi buffy

thanks for your reply, when i do put him down in the day i too have found that he sleeps for slightly longer in his chair with the vibration on rather than his moses basket, likwise if he gets over tired it is very difficult to get him to sleep - nice to know that other babies are like this, thought i just had a strange little boy on my hands! think i'll get the ergo baby carrier out and try him in that or i'm bound to the house until he sleeps better!

cheers x
