3 year old problems with peers

My ds is 3.7. We have had such a bad week with him as he is really disruptive and comes across as mean to his peers. He is very lively, and can be slightly hyper but he can also play well, listen to stories and focus. The problem is I know he comes across as a really naughty child and kids (and parents) back off.

I really feel at my wits end and I font quite know how to deal with it.

Does he have any siblings? If he is an only child maybe he just needs teaching how to play nicely with other children, could you arrange a playdate with some kids from his nursery or with other friends who have children even if not the same age? Then just a matter of keeping an eye on him and when he behaves negatively remove him each time until he realises he is missing out on all the fun.
