Cold turkey with the Dreaded Dummy.

Last night was the first night of taking the dummy away from my DS who is approaching 3 next week. Went really well and he hardly made any fuss. Gave lots of praise this moring plus a 'swampy monster' as a well done insentive gift.

He is currently upstairs crying for me and a dummy.

Do I leave him to cry or go and reason with him?

Reasoning won't work, but I'd go and cuddle him/settle him down.

At 3 explaining dummy is for babies and not for big boys is worth saying. Its will be hard for a few days and then you'll never look back. Lots of cuddles and reassurance in the meantime.

Stay strong he doesnt need it any more. :)

Thanks. He is all settled now. A cuddle and the promise of another monster did the trick. Fingers crossed for the whole night :)

I hope u have a successful night! I went cold turkey with my first two dds and its surprising how quickly they stop wanting a dummy so stick with it!
