My 4 YO loves dressing up and if i let her would cover her face in my make up. She loves to play with my shoes etc. I have bought her play shoes and fancy dress . I am assuming that this is a normal thing for a 4 yo, however am very aware that i do not want her to think apperance is everything. would love to hear your comments.

Personally I don't think I would (have a boy so who knows??) but there are far more inappropriate things.

VinegarTits - don't you mean his hooves haven't fallen off yet - I was referring to your ass not your DS!

My DD is 3.4 years and I let her have here toes done. She usually wants them when she sees me doing mine but only keeps them on a couple of days before wanting them off!

On a serious note though to those who paint toes AND fingers together I saw a medical program a few years back that said when children are seriously sick the first place doctors check is the nails as they tend to discolour and show change which can help with diagnosis. For this reason I only ever do toes. If I were to do fingers I would then leave toes un-painted, just incase. :oD

my post wasn't directed at you cat, i had ignored your stupid comment

was pointing out that nail varnish doesnt um...make your toes fall off

not sure why you would think my child has hooves? Hmm would you like to explain?

Vinegartits, cat was making a lighthearted comment about you removing stick from your ass, as in donkey, ass's have hooves, she wasn't referring to your ds at all.

Took my DD1 for a princess pedi the other day (turquoise polish) - she's 6.7 and it was a real holiday treat (also meant that I could get my toes done). We live in the tropics where everyone wears open shoes / flip flops and regular pedis for adults are the norm. DD2 saw our painted toenails after school and wanted her toes pink - she had one coat of varnish - she's 2.7. Don't see a problem once every so often (school holidays etc). We normally use OPI polish that doesn't contain formaldehyde, DPB or toluene....

For some reason I don't let either of my kids paint their fingernails - that seems wrong....

A good way to get her thinking appearance is everything is taking appearance too seriously, i.e. by refusing to let her have her toenails painted and making a fuss about it.
