My five year old has a bit of a Problem

He's often fiddling with his tackle (as he always has done) and this is resulting in, um, well you know.

The thing is, this 'Problem' has become noticable larger over the past 6 months, and not kind of, errrrm, well it's obvious.

Now OBLVIOUSLY I tell him not to fiddle in public, and he's quite good at not doing so, but sometimes they just happen on their own. he's not remotely embarrased, more delighted and fascinated, but I am embarrassed. Like I say, it's obvious.

What can I do? is there any sort of pants i should get, like smaller ones, to make it not so noticable?

And further more, should this really be happening to my tiny little 5 year old boy to the extent that it's visible through jogging bottoms?

Just to say, I might have this thread deleted after a few replies, because MN can attract pervs and they can't perv if it's gone.

I remember my brother doing this. And asking my mum why it went like that.

Not sure what she said, think my step dad handled it! Not sure there is much you can do tbh. I wouldn't recommend smaller pants.
Its completely natural, he's learning about his body!

Honestly i think its normal-certianly is for m ds1 and ds3 but not ds2.

defineme · 20/04/2011 09:34

Really really normal, you're the only one that notices-no one else is looking. I find 'hands up' works better than 'stop fiddling'. I haven't explained why it happens as yet, just said it's what willies do.

Tee2072 · 20/04/2011 09:35

Yes, pervs are searching MN for threads like this. Exactly. Hmm

It's what penises (penii?) do. No one is paying any attention.

colditz · 20/04/2011 10:36

Tee2072, I've been on Mumsnet for about 6 years, and every school holiday, we get odd people searching old threads and posting perverse comments. I can't link to them, because they get deleted pretty sharpish, but it does happen. Did you not see the ones all over the potty training forum, some teenaged boy trying to get people to talk about how they put nappies on their teenaged sons? Some other time, I saw a thread about little girl's 'white cotton panties' and spanking. I'd really rather not this thread be some dirty little fucker's wank fodder, so I'll have it deleted all the same.

but thanks all for your reassurances of normal. I was never a boy and completely ignored my brother, also Ds1 has NEVER done this!

i didnt know u could get threads deleted, how do u do that? Not that i need but always useful to know!! I agree with yr concern re silly pervs on MN sometimes, about a month ago there was a worryin no of threads about the names of private parts and i did wonder if there were some trolls about.

Anyway no advice, ds is only 11mo, so i have time to go before i worry about all this. As someone who grew up in an all female household tho (parents divoced and only got sisters!) this kind of stuff is quite new to me and im not relishing the prospect of dealing with it!
