10 mo grinding teeth - is this normal? Will it do any damage?

My 10 mo ds has just started grinding his teeth, well kind of rubbing them together - when he goes to sleep. He only has 5 teeth - 3 top and 2 bottom. Is this normal? Will he do any damage to those teeth?

Mine did that too. Didn't last more than a couple of weeks though. Think it is just a new thing they discover they can do. I just ignored it and he stopped doing it. Good luck.

mine did a lot of teeth grinding, i took DS to the dentist and she said it was very common and nothing to worry about.

I think you've got your answer but as reassurance we were exactly the same, DS is 15mths and he has had 2 phases of this now - like fingernails down a calk board! Horrible but it passes..

Mine did this. Usually for a few weeks at a time, and it usually coincided with a new tooth coming through. Once it was out, the grinding would stop.

My DS (13 months) went through a phase of this when he first got his top teeth. It lasted a couple of weeks and then he moved onto something else...
