DD sucking/biting fists causing sores

My dd2 is 19 weeks old. She already has two teeth and there are definately more on the way. She doesn't seem to get any satisfaction from any of the teethers I have offered her and is still really a bit too young/small to hold on to them. As a consequence she is gnawing at her fists and today I have noticed that she is beginning to get sores on her hand at the base of her thumb. What can I do? I don't know what to put on them that will be safe for her to potentially ingest. Any advice gratefully received thank you.

Oh no, your poor DD, I'm cringing just thinking about her poor hand. Haven't got any advice other than maybe bandaging her hand - which sounds a bit OTT but may help it heal. You could try the baby whisperer trick of wetting the corner of a flannel then freezing it, then letting her chew on that.

That sounds like a good idea. She does suck on her muslins and a little comforter she has too so I think that would work.
Anyone with an idea of a cream or something to help with the sores. They are not bad yet, but will be if she carries on

Of course!!!! If it is ok for nipples whilst feeding it will be ok on dds hands. Thank you! I will dig out my tube. I agree it is a wonder cream!!! Thank you.
