Grumpy 10 month old

Hi I'm new to this site, just wondered if anyone else has a grumpy baby? My son is almost 10 months old and he constantly whinges and moans. For first 2 weeks he didn't cry at all and was really chilled then suddenly he let rip and was really grumpy till about 4 months. Then he improved slightly but over last couple of months he's getting more and more grumpy again. We kept thinking it was teething and have used powders/gel on and off from 5 months but not one tooth yet so can't put it down to that either! I keep telling myself that hes obviously really intelligent and just frustrated cos he can't crawl yet (although he can roll and drag himself pretty much where he wants!). My daughter was by no means an easy baby but was a walk in the park in comparison! Even my hubby can't believe how grumpy he is most of the time. Feel really guilty for even writing this as it took so long to get him, we had problems conceiving and lost a baby girl at 15 weeks into pregnancy so I know how lucky we are to have him and I love him to bits, just wish I could make him a bit happier :-(

How is his sleeping and eating? My daughter becomes MASSIVELY grumpy if tired or hungry. I do think they go through a very frustrated phase before a big developmental leap sometimes. Perhaps he's just about to crawl/pull up/recite you a poem!

Ha ha, his eating is good (although have had problems getting milk down him since stopped breastfeeding at 4 months - he will only have bottle when going to sleep now!) and he's gaining weight well, sleeping has never been great, on a good night he'll sleep 8 hours in his room then will wake around 4am for up to an hour and end up in bed with me but will then sleep for another 2-3hrs, during day he has a nap late morning and mid afternoon, anything from 30mins to an hour and a half never can tell how long. On a bad night he can wake every 2hours :-( occasionally he'll sleep right through 10-11hrs but his routine is same every day so can't pinpoint anything. Have had difficulty getting him down for his naps last couple of days so maybe hes getting ready to drop a nap and just have one in middle of day but that might make him even more grumpy! Have been at end of my tether with him this week made hubby come home from work on Wednesday lunchtime :-))
