6 month old not rolling or sitting unaided

I just wanted to know when my baby should start rolling or sitting up. She is 6 months old and not sitting or rolling. I put her on her belly everyday...and she hates it! She did do a roll once, but then since then nothing. She sits upright with lots of back support but not by herself. Should i be worried. I see babies her age and they all seem to be doing these things.

my dd wasn't doing those things at 6mo either. she's doing them both and more now at nearly 10mo.

i wouldn't worry too much and stop comparing your baby to others, all babies are different and develop at different rates.

My DS has only just started sitting up, 7.5 months. He's still a bit wobbly! He hates going on his belly too but loves standing up. I wouldn't be worried, she'll do it when she's ready! All babys develop differently. My DS got his first tooth at 4 months, my friends got his at 1 year!

I think there is a lot of pressure on us for our babys to develop quickly, don't stress out about it, as long as she is healthy and happy that's all that matters!

My DC were not sitting up at that age. DD rolled over when she was about 4 months, but DS was much later.

Don't be worried, they all do things at different rates. DD didn't sit until she was almost a year.

Don't sit her up with support, it is not good for her back. When she is ready she will do it herself.

The variation between the development of babies is massive, so please don't compare your DD to any other babies.

If it's any consolation, my sister sat for the first time on her 1st birthday! Admittedly, she was 6 weeks premature, but that is still the equivalent of 10 and a half months. She is now the most sporty person I know, and even played squash for her country when she was at school.

Ds wasn't, he was 10 months before he was sitting reliably unaided and rolling, then within a week he was crawling so make the most of it Grin

It's not just mine then! Wink

Dd didn't sit until 8 months and has just started rolling at 9

DD didn't roll until 7 months and didn't sit unaided until 10 months, she was also slow to walk on her own (19, nearly 20 months). Now she doesn't stop!

DS sat at 7 months, rolled at 6.

I know babies who rolled for the first time anywhere between 3 and 10 months - including another who started rolling, crawling and walking within a week aged 10 months. Shock

You could try putting a rolled up towel under her chest or putting her on her tummy on a bed so she can see you - that helped my DS cope with tummy time (he hated it before that).
