toilet training - should I give up?

dd will be 3 in june

this is her 2nd week out of nappies.

she is normally fine re ewes. she goes to nursery and goes to the potty or toilet fine there and at home.

BUT - 2 big problems

  1. she hasn't managed it with poo. She has not once done a poo in the potty or toilet, always in her pants and frankly i'm fed up of it.
  1. On an evening she seems to get too tired and will occasionally just pee in her pants. Fine all day, and can wait even long periods between ewes, but evenings, not always but sometimes she doesn't even try.

I feel like jut putting her back in nappies but she cries and says she's a big girl and doesn't want nappies.

Dh is adamant we shouldn't go back, she doesn't want to go back. I am fed up.

Wwyd?

If she is determined to wear pants, then probably best to keep going. Perhaps in the evenings you could remind, send or take her to the loo aver 45-60mins (or whatever her interval is), at least for a few more weeks.

As for poos: bribery? Also, does she feel secure pooing? Maybe she doesn like the potty (none of mine ever pooed in the potty, they preferred the loo for poos, even if they weed in the potty). Maybe she needs a secure step for the loo, so that her legs don't dangle? Maybe she wd like to be held while pooing? From the way my 3 - all very different - behaved while learning the poo part of toilet traing, think sometimes children struggle with the muscle actions of pooing, in that it can be a bit overwhelming and they can't quite manage to poo and keep their balance at the same time.

thanks,

I know you shouldn't compare but I can't help it. The 3 boys were fine. ds1 a total dream (mind you, he initiated it himself, declared he didn't want nappies anymore and never did), ds2 and 3 the occasional accident, but nothing like this.

She has got a high stool to rest her feet on when she's on the toilet, but she's never even attempted a poo on the potty or toilet, it's straight in her pants like she has no idea it's coming.

Anyway, just about half an hour after peeing on the kitchen floor with a little bit of poo for good measure, she's just peed all over her bedroom floor, so that's it as far as I'm concerned.

I don't care if she can go the whole day without an accident, while she can't even attempt poos and just pisses where she wants when she feels like it opf an evening when I'm already tired and grumpy, I can't be doing with it.

Unfortunately, unlike the boys, I do need to have her toilet trained before she starts Kindergarten. Bags of time yet though. She can have a couple of weeks in nappies then maybe try again.

grr i am too tired and grumpy for this!

Hats off to people who can have more than 4 and stay sane.
