3 month old Eye Conact

My DS is just over 3 months old, he was delayed in making eye contact (8 weeks) and still only does it really when he is lay down in his gym or on his changing mat. If i pick him up and put him on my knee facing me he avoids looking at my face preferreing to look at the t.v, walls, ceiling and lightfittings.

He is like 2 different babies, when he is lay down he coos, smiles and has good interaction but when you pick him up he does not seem interested in having any interaction with you. Is this normal??

Yes, at 3 months it is normal :)

Babies look away when they have had enough - and they protect themselves from being overwhelmed with stimulus that way.

A baby who looks at you when he is laid down may just have had enough eye contact for the moment - and your face close up and your voice trying to 'get him' to interact may be overwhelming.

So it could all be perfectly normal - ask your HV to check things out, to be sure, though.
