My little boy turned 9 months old on Sunday and for the last 2 months we have been trying to introduce lumpy food into his diet. Whenever we feed him it he borks loads and pulls the lumps out with his hands. After a while he starts smacking the spoon away and it goes everywhere. i am just wondering if this is normal and are there any tips and advice to overcome this? He will eat mashed up lumpy fruit but its main meals that he hates however he loves smooth baby meals. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank You

unfortunately this is quite common but nothing to worry about.
I would try finger foods. my ds was the same he would even "steal" the smooth baby food from the younger babies at nursery... but he was fine eating soft boiled broccoli and other veg dipped in cream cheese and also picked up peas or sweetcorn individually from the table.

for meats we either cut it into pea-size chunks so he could pick them up himeself or (baby) fist-size so he could gnaw and chew on it.
don't worry too much about protein, as he still is getting most of his nutrition from his milk.
