What time does a party for your average 13 yo finish?

DSS is going to a party tonight, invited by a friend from school who is also 13.

DSS has asked DH to pick him up at 10.45 as that is when the party finishes. That sounds very late to us or are we just v out of touch with the social habits of 13 year olds? My DDs are both under 4, so teenage years are a long way away!

Doesn't sound too unreasonable for a non-school night IMHO. I would be ok with my 13 yr old doing it, assuming it was a suitable venue, and mobile phone was carried, etc.

Quarter to 11?

What worries me if quarter to 11 is ok at (just) thirteen, wheres left to go? By which I mean, what time will it be at 14, 15, 16.

Don't.....! Haven't got there yet. Kids do of course expect the Moon on a Stick these days.

I think 11 is ok - so long as you know and trust the circumstances (as much as you can).

Sometimes it's best not to know too much.

My DS (14) recently made a very sensible decision not to go to a party. I did wonder why, but it transpired that it was a nightmare with the police being called to break up scuffles in the street and some girl given some drugs and having to be hospitalised.

Seems he must have known it was a bad idea and stayed out of it.

Makes me trust his judgement on future occassions.

It's soooooo much harder as they get older.

It's hard, DSS lives with mum and only stays with us alternate weekends. Info is not forthcoming and the situation is presented as a done deal. DSS has asked Dh to pick up so certainly don't know too much!
