Almost 3 year old dd doing weird starey thing

At a loss to describe this properly but for the last week or so my 2.11 year old dd has been doing a weird starey expression constantly like once every minute of the day it seems! She kind of tilts her head down and opens her eyes really wide and stares to the side and rolls her eyes a bit.. it's making me laugh writing this but it's starting to get on my nerves!

I think she has been doing it since we visted her 5 and 9 year old cousins last Saturday and when I saw her doing it later that day I asked if she was copying her 5 year old cousin had been doing it and she said yes. But she is doing it constantly all day, when someone is talking to her and when playing by herself, and her granny is starting to worry she has a tic.

I know children at this age are learning about emotions and facial expressions and mimic so much, especially children they look up to, and I've decided to say nothing about it and hope it goes away soon Grin but I'm dying to tell her to stop it!

Any similar experiences?

Yep................

My 2 year old does this but very occassionally. he used to do it quie a bit. I was worried too. It's practically stopped now.

I wouldn't wworry about this too much.

It is funny though...Grin I never ever laughed at him as I feared it would just encourage him. I never told him to stop for that exact reason too!!

Hi oinker thanks for replying! Was starting to worry I was the only one... She'll still doing it but less. It makes me laugh my mum's all worried about it now, and I think she does it more when mum's around. Toddlers have some weird and wonderful ideas, we all have to pretend to be Tombliboos and Teletubbies and nothing is what it seems, any old cardboard box is the Tombliboos house, and a toy brick is actually Makka Pakka's sponge - it's hard to keep up with their imagination!
