8mth old making himself sick

Hello. I have a problem with my 8mth old boy. He has always been a really good eater and enjoyed his food. You could put any type of food infront of him and he would try it and usually eat it all up.

Last week he had a stomach bug and was very ill so much so that he would be heaving and only bile would be coming up. It was very distressing and scary. Although the bug has gone and he is alot happier and got his colour back he has started heaving while eating his food! So much so he makes himself sick. It almost seems like he heaves for the attention but he goes to far and ends up throwing up all his dinner. I am worried I will never be able to get him to keep a meal down or feed him in public.

Has anyone else had this problem after a stomach bug or other bad habits? And any advice on how to stop it? I am very worried he will keep losing weight and not ever keep a meal down!

Thanks - any helpmuch appreciated

will watch for responses, have a similar problem with 9mo boy who was very ill last week with cough, cold and tonsil issues. I am giving him smaller spoonfuls and tend to stop as soon as he heaves. I dont know what else will work. Saw HV today who is not worried as he is 98 percentile for weight..which is sad..as a problem remains unresolved.

dont you just both think that they are not over their illnesses yet?

Yes, it is quite possible that they are not over it yet, I am sticking to simple, runny food for now, till he bounces back. However coughs and colds seem to be doing rounds and I dont know when he will be perfectly fine :(

I do think that he is not completely over the bug but it just seems to be hanging around for quite a while!

We had two days of no sick and happily eating simple purée food and the sick again today. I am going to see my HV on Monday so if she is not worried then I will try not to be.

Thank you or your responses and hope all the little ones get better soon.
