Organised activities-will she ever really enjoy?

Dd goes to gym class which I think she likes the idea of but often says she doesn't want to go to. I must admit I am keen on her doing one activity per week with a structure to it. But I wonder if for her, she's 5, it's too young and we would be better off waiting a bit. Today she was told off for not listening which made me worry. If she stops now, might she respond later to structured activities and how do we know which one?

If she doesn't like it there is no point in making her go. She is probably tired if she is in reception. I would either find a Saturday class that she likes, or just leave it for now. No real need to do anything extracurricular at this stage. xx

It's a Saturday class! Part of me says perhaps not right- another bit wants to encourage her to take up interests and she talks enthusiastically about gym during the week.

My boys did swimming lessons - non-negotiable in my eyes - at this age, but nothing else. They just found school-days long and exhausting, and tbh we just wanted to chill and relax and have family time at the weekends.

If she doesn't enjoy it, I'd knock it on the head for now. Plenty of time for classes and activities when she's older if she wants to.
