so that he doesn't have to do things i tell him to do. (i made him come inside for the bath)

is this a normal thing that children come out with? should i be worried about where he is hearing it? should i ignore? how do i deal with it? (i told him it would make me and his family very sad not to have him around and that we all have to do things we dont like doing from time to time)

DD turned four last week.Dead is one of her favourite things at the minute."If you make me do that I will be dead".I heard somewhere kids dont understand the permanence of dead till theyre at least seven.I just tell her it isnt nice to talk like that and dead is forever. It still crops up every now and then though.

My DS(5) skipped round the kitchen tonight saying "I'd like to be dead Mummy"

Other nights he says "I'd like to be a dog" or "I'd like to go to Disneyland". Its all very random. please don't worrry.

Oh and apparently (according) to DD I'm "the meanest Mummy in the world" - or at least I was last night.

Can't remember - I am also heartless and forgetful obviously!

Don't worry ,and pretend that you didn't hear it,don't comment on it.
I heard it as well this week from my DS 5 and half, when asked him to tidy his room, then had a fit,so i just explain, that we do have things even if we don't like them, and gave exemple of myself, not liking waching up,but still have to do it,
now every now and then ,he says i hate this or that ,but still i have to do it.Jut try to stay calm, and ignor what you don't like to see or hear as can.All the best:)

thanks precious, i will just ignore him in the future.

i now have images of him doing it in public and me responding with a "that's nice dear" and a pat on the head! Grin

DS (5) regularly tells me he wishes he was dead so he didn't have to clean his teeth.
