13 month old sticking fingers down throat

I have 13 month twins. At times over the last month or 2 both of them have stuck fingers down throats and gagged, A has made herself sick once. I mentioned it to the health visitor at their one year check and she said they were just experimenting and may enjoy the feeling (!) M doesn't do it much now but A does, most days. I gently push her hand away and try to distract her, before she makes herself sick. I don't want it to become an attention seeking thing. DH said she was sick in bed the other night, and she had been sticking her fingers down her throat before she went to bed. I was hoping it wouldn't last this long. Any thoughts?

My DD (now 19 months) did this for a while and like your HV said I think she was doing it to experiment. I just gently told her not to do it and explain that she might be sick and that wouldn't be nice then quickly moved on to talking about something else more fun as distraction. A few times I needed to up my game with serious distraction (yes I am talking full on stand up comedian mum) but after a while she just stopped as soon as I asked her and she rarely does it now.

I wouldn't worry to be honest, they are just learning about their little bodies and all the fascinating things they can make happen - shows they are intelligent and curious.

My 20 month Ds still does this. I think he's trying to feel his back teeth that are coming through.
When he gags, he stops.
I hope he'll grow out of it too!

Are their back teeth coming through?

WowOoo, when she gags, she carries on! I don't think there's any sign of back teeth yet. I'll have a check tomorrow.
Thanks for the replies, I think I'll go ThePippys way, full on stand up comedian distractions!
Glad to know it's not just them, I wish they'd stop though!
