Title says it really!
He like to have some big gulps...it's not healthy for him surely. He doesn't seem to care about the taste of soap!

anyone else dealt with this one?
Thanks!

Mine do this. Just add some squash it will take away the taste of the soap.... Grin

missorinoco · 14/03/2011 14:16

Mine also, just get them out quickly if they do a poo!

mousymouse · 14/03/2011 14:16

ignore, it will give a nice full nappy, but is not really harmful.

LukeyLou · 14/03/2011 17:10

Mine does it too. One bonus - it's given him a lot of practice in drinking from a cup without a spout :)

cashmeregoat · 14/03/2011 21:17

mine does it too. No harm has come of it yet.

Daffodilly · 14/03/2011 21:43

Ours do it and have survived so far. I sometimes give mine a cup of cold water from the handbasin if they want a drink - that way they get practise drinking from a cup and a drink without downing pints of bath water.

chocjunkie · 14/03/2011 21:48

DD is 3 and still does it. I wouldn't worry about it!

Meglet · 14/03/2011 21:49

You can't really. Ignore and distract are probably your're only options.

MerryMarigold · 14/03/2011 21:52

Mine do it, they are well past 2. I don't mind. Dh hates it. He tells them it is yuck. Doesn't seem to have stopped them Grin, but maybe they do it a bit less often than they used to. I actually remember drinking bathwater, and I don't have many childhood memories at all, so I must have been quite old and got quite a lot of pleasure from it.

Honeydragon · 14/03/2011 21:52

dd does it too, still it stops her eating the soap Hmm

ChunkyPickle · 14/03/2011 21:52

Ours too - sucking from the sponge is also a favourite...

tablefor3 · 14/03/2011 21:55

DD1 too! DH has negotiated a solution which is that she is allowed to drink from the vv slowly running cold tap. Ho hum.....

Dysgu · 14/03/2011 22:30

Mine do this too - DD2 does it a lot more than DD1 but it doesn't seem to have done either much harm. Most of the time it is just water without bubbles. It has given them both a chance to practice spitting which makes them more able to have a go at cleaning their own teeth (reasonably) effectively, rather than simply eating the toothpaste!

Thanks for the replies! Glad it seems to be pretty harmless. DS seems to really relish it, like he is drinking something delicious! Always smacks his lips and goes 'Ahhhh' afterwards....
I'll have to try the squash idea Hmm sticky baby?

I think this is perfectly normal, it may seem disgusting to us but it's just fun to them and to be fair they probably take in far worse with toys in toddler groups and nurseries so don't worry about it.

FWIW My DS will be 5 in June and still shoves his face in the water and smacks his lips afterwords Hmm:o

Danthe4th · 15/03/2011 11:36

This has just reminded me of one of mine who used to suck johnsons baby wipes given the chance he also loved the soapy water, goodness knows why!!

MrsKarteDor · 15/03/2011 12:26

Apologies Marthamay I was being facetious. MN seems to bring it out in me.....

marthamay · 15/03/2011 21:29

No MrsDor! Good suggestion! Made me laugh. No apology needed...

DD does it too, less so than she did. It's the best place for them to learn to drink from a cup.

ilovesprouts · 15/03/2011 23:07

my 4year old ds2 does it,also sucks baby wipes eek!
