6 months old early morning waking

Hello All.
Wondered if anyone had any advice for early morning waking. DS has recently been moved from EBF to FF and now only feeds once at night and wakes far less. Unfortunately he has started waking at 4.30/5 to start the day. This crept up on us over the past couple of months as he was waking then but I would feed him or he would go back to sleep of own accord. Now even when I try to feed him he'll only take an ounce or two and then won't go back to sleep. Any ideas?

My DD is also 6 months and recently started waking earlier. She also isn't that hungry and i have put it down to the lighter mornings. Could you try some black out blinds?

We usually pop in to her (she's waking about 5.45am atm) and give her a toy or two. She's happy to play on her own for a bit till i wake up properly and get up with her.

I would say if he's happy to amuse hiself for a bit then leave him be until a more reasonable hour.

Hiya. What time is your LO going to bed?

I have a 5 month old with same problem...tried the following:

  • Going to bed earlier
  • Going to bed later
  • Reducing naps
  • Increasing naps
  • Feeding more
  • Feeding less

I have given up and decided by DS just is an early waker! I have found that reducing naps doesn't work that well...he just gets more grissly and doesn't go to bed as well...

The advice online is so confusing with 'experts' saying contravening things so I will watch this conversation with interest!!
