Is this normal? She's 7 in late July so is in year 2. She's happy at school...not had any complaints from them or concerns.

Just lately...maybe over the last 2 months she has begin to write reams and reams of lists and other things.

She writes lists of the food she would have if se owneda cafe, the poems she learns at scool are written over and over again...she writes random words....all on notepaper.

Sometimes she cuts them out and stcks them onto other sheets. Sometimes she illustates them but usually not.

She does this from the time she gets in to bedtime and then I find that she has put her light back on so she can do more!

Is it normal or obessive?

normal here.

normal here too with DS(7) also yr 2.

It's normal. She's just discovered the power of the written word and wants to explore it.

Thank Goodness!! I'm a bit paranoid about DD1 because she hd a period of pallilalia and selective muteness....both of which went without intervention.

She's sociable and school are happy though...so I think I am thinking too much.

My DD is 7 and I find lists and stories everywhere! She loves writing. I think it is really sweet!

Al1son · 13/03/2011 21:44

You're bound to worry then. If she's sociable, school have no concerns and your instincts tell you that she's happy and comfortable with her world then I think you're right not to worry.

FlamingoBingo · 13/03/2011 21:46

What's phallilalia?

Al1son · 14/03/2011 16:22

I think Pallilalia is a speech disorder a bit like stuttering. I'm no expert but I think it's compulsive behaviour.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

It's where they whsper repeat the last few words of their sentences.

So DD used to say for example..

"I'm going to the circus with Aunt Jane {Aunt Jane}"

The bracketed words would be spoken in a whisper.

I ever knew there was a nme for it until after she stopped it...I came across a reference to it online....and realised that had I come across it whilst DD was still doing it, I would have had a panic!
