Is my 3 month old really babbling?

Don't they usually babble around 6 months? I should know this because he isn't my first...

He has jsut started babbling when he is grumpy/tired. Sounds like he is having a good old moan as he mutters away "mumumumMU!" "bububBAD-DAD!"

He only does it when grumpy with none of the happy babbling I remember from my other children.

Is he actually babbling or just complaining Hmm

On the other hand he really clearly said "Very pooopy!" the other day. I checked his nappy and he wasnt.... Grin

Haha brilliant about the very pooopy bit. Grin

My ds1 didn't really babble until around 8/9months so when ds2 came along and was properly babbling by 8weeks I was a little shocked then just enjoyed all the new sounds he was making.

It was actually someone on here that told me it was very early for him to start babbling. Only problem now is (at nearly 6months) he's learning a whole range of new pitches, including the really high pitched squeal of delight and usually at 5.30 in the sodding morning.

So yes, your little one probablyi s babbling. Even if it is when he's grumpy/tired. At least you have a clear sign as to when he's ready to sleep. Wink

Clever boy said "BOOB!" today Grin

I can see why some people genuinely think their very young baby is really talking!

My 15 week old DS has been babbling for several weeks now, vocalising his displeasure and his happiness in equal measure. Really cute and funny.... except at 3am when he decides it's play time.

My dd started babbling about 8 weeks too, I have a video of her at 11 weeks talking away happily! She was very vocal from day one, even the health visitor mentioned she would be an early talker, she was and has an amazing vocabulary and now never shuts up, she is now 3. You will never be lonely and will find yourself interacting with total strangers on a daily basis!
