And it's all our fault. He's gone from being monosyllabic to swearing like a five star navvy.

I've never heard "oh for fucks sake" said so clearly.

In an attempt at damage limitation we've managed to change the "fuck" to "duck" but for some reason it sounds even worse!

We never realised how much we used bad language until now.

ROFL! Sorry...

Persauded ds that 'bugger' is pronounced 'buddha' in a damage limitation exercise but he still uses it perfectly in context so I think we are fucked, basically.

reminds me of ds,he loved to say fuck it when he was about 2.Said it all the time, really, really embarassing!I'm sure he knew it was amusing to some eventhough I ignored completely. He eventually stopped when we cleaned up our language. He's now 3 and his language is much cleaner!!

I wouldn't worry - ours haev always known all the words tehre are to know, but they know they are naughty. they know that every now and then they can say something rude to me or dh as a joke and we all feign shock horror and tell them they'd better not say that to Granny or she'll put them in the cellar. I like to think that we have succesfully simultaneously demystified swearing while inculcating a level of propriety. basically we collude in being naughty and collude by not swearing in front of granny and so far it seems to have worked.

Ha ha ha! Edam, our 2.5 yr old DD calls bogeys Buddhas!

Today, whilst visiting work colleagues (ive just left after 6 months maternity leave) my DD was watching me change DS's nappy and said "Look mummy poo poo. Look mummy sh*t". How embarrassed was i. I dont actually use that word so i must have a word with DP about that.....

She also says "oh for gods sake" as well.

JonesTheSteam · 21/10/2005 16:20

My DS (just gone 2) is not talking very much but can say 'Oh god' very clearly!!!! Particularly in front of the HV at his 2 year check!!!

DD (aged 4) came out with 'Look at that stupid bugger over there!!! - shortly after I'd used the same phrase about someone who tried to reverse into me in a carpark - spent a long time trying to persuade her it was 'beggar'

zoe2kids · 29/10/2005 15:26

Hi, my 2 year old loves to say 'oh bloody hell'. Which I ignore, she then repeats 'mummy, I said oh bloody hell'.

To tell you the truth I do find it amusing but, not sure I will if she says it in front of grandparents or friends.

My husband and I have both got foul mouths - so completley us to blame.

Pinotmum · 29/10/2005 15:29

QueeVictoria, my ds who has just turned 3 yo says "Oh for God's sake" and "bloody fools" I told dh he must have heard them at playgroup

expatinscotland · 29/10/2005 15:34

We NEVER swear in front of DD - 2.4. But she dropped the phone the other day and exclaimed 'fk'. Over and over. I managed to ignore it, but it was hard. Don't know where she heard it.

I didn't realise 'bugger' was a swear word, or 'bo*&(cks', so I'd been using them. Until MIL told me those were 'bad' words. Oops.

Elibean · 29/10/2005 19:10

Lol....like Hatstand's philosophy. DD only 22 months and not swearing yet, but...
Her 3 year old cousin (bilingual, my family is half French) said 'pooey Maman' to her mother, was told it wasn't very nice, and came back with 'but YOU say 'merde' when you hurt yourself' in injured tones....doubt I need to translate....:-)

fullmoonfiend · 29/10/2005 19:49

We try to be clean-mouthed around the kids but dh suffers from BAD road and can't help himself when driving. Luckily, ds misheard and now custard instead of bastard has become a very satisfying alternative in our house!

However, my younger ds did ask me what arsebiscuits were the other day - I thought I was alone when I dropped that one
