Issues with 2 yr old DS scratching/hitting 7 week old DD

Was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice. Our 2 yr old son (was 2 in December) has gone from being the lovliest boy (honestly!) to being the brother from hell. For the first few weeks that DD was home (she is 7 weeks old), he was great with her - giving her kisses and stroking her. But in the last couple of days he has turned in Chucky, and is scratching her and even bit her at one point. Its really stressing me out as I can't leave him alone with her for 1 second, just in case he does some real harm. I'm sure its just a phase, but don't really know what the best way is to deal with it, or to get him to stop it.
Thanks very much

I had this with DS3 and DS4. DS3 took offence to his little brother the day we brought him home. He was 28 months. Believe it or not he even managed to ring 999 that day. We joke now that he was trying to get DS4 removed from the house.

I didn't know what to do either. DSs1&2 never took any notice of DS3 when he was born. In the end I had to get a playpen to put DS4 in so that DS3 couldn't reach him. Only gave up with playpen when DS4 could stand.

I must admit that the situation hasn't really changed. They are now 13 and 11. DS3 still pokes, hits and taunts DS4. And it is so noticeable that DS1&2 also comment on the rivalry of their younger brothers.

I just hope they grow out of it by the time they hit their 20s. lol

My advice: Put the baby out of his reach.
