Why does my 4mo wake up so early?

She goes to sleep very well, normally between 8pm and 9pm, and she has a final feed around 10pm. Then reliably around 5am, sometimes as early as 4am, she will wake up.

She normally starts whining or crying in her sleep before actually waking, but it never devleops into a full-blown cry or scream. It's like she's uncomfortable or something but changing her nappy doesn't seem to help.

We can sometimes settle her at this stage but she will start again in five or ten minutes. Eventually she will just open her eyes and is relatively calm.

She doesn't seem hungry - we don't give her her first feed until around 7-8, and that doesn't seem to bother her.

With effort we can get her back to sleep, but only for thirty minutes or so and then she wakes up again.

Five hours can't be a health amount of night-time sleep for a four-month old can it?

For background, we are currently sleeping in the same room as her. She doesn't nap very much in the day - no more than four or five thirty minute naps, but some days she will nap for longer.

Any hints or suggestions gratefully received.

I would try getting to her before she's properly awake and feeding her a little, she might not be starving, but a tummy full of milk would make her drowsier?

my 3.5 year old is often up for the day at 5am though so I'm probably not the best person to advise!
