He eats the baby wipes!

DS is a year old and is obsessed with chewing on baby wipes. Whenever I get the pack out to clean his hands, face, bottom he snatches one. Surely this isn't good for him? Do you reckon he's deficient in something? Or just weird?!

My 1 yr old DD does this too, would be interested to read other replies...

I don't suppose chewing baby wipes will cause any harm, but how hard is it to keep them away from a 1 year old?

BeeMyBaby · 28/02/2011 14:55

I think perhaps it depends how the changing area is organised... (mine is dis-organised)

My son does this too! He's only 7 months. My HV said its ok but to try to buy plain ones, (not scented ones).

I used to rinse them and then sterilise them but don't both any more.

Not sure why he does it, he loves damp washing from the washing machine too! Had a pair of DH's under pants earlier (they were clean, just out of the wash!), have no idea how he got hold of them.

I wouldn't worry too much.

I agree Bee... with one hand doing the cleaning, the other holding his knees up, both elbows holding him down (he's a squirmer), and a knee stopping him from rolling off, the wipes pack has to be as close to hand as poss!

my son did this, and he loved the moisture/watery taste coming from the wipes. when he was old enough i just gave him water and he loves it.
