DS 2.5 hitting during temper tantrums

We're going through a particularly rough time (understandable as we've just moved house and changed his nursery) but he is hitting. At the moment, I walk away and ignore the entire tantrum but he follows and continues to hit.

Usually he will eventually calm down as I start to talk to him calmly but he does really struggle to say sorry.

DH says I am letting him walk all over me.

How should I tackle this?

and just to add, we've tried a reward/sticker chart with him. He's not really interested and will usually just say he doesn't want a sticker!

If he hits you I'd say try time out in a different room to you for 2 minutes. Be consistent. Say 'no hitting' and take him to the same room, carrying him if required, close the door and hold it shut if necessary for 2 mins. When you open up say 'now, no hitting, OK?' then forget about it. ( until the next time.)
