DS 4mths, penis veering to one side, should i be worried?

I think the title is pretty self-explanatory, it bends in the middle to the right (DS's left). I only noticed because he was constantly wetting one side of his nappy more. I didn't notice at first as he was wearing pampers which are pretty leakproof, and just thought it was because DS likes to sleep on his side it was gravity causing one side of his nappy to become wetter.

However now with these rubbish Huggies i bought on offer (I digress - sorry) I am having to change all of poor DS's clothes with most changes, especially after a nap.

Anyway, showed DP, who said "don't worry, mine bends too" Hmm. Well DP's has a slight bend which is barely noticeable, DS's bends at about 45 degrees from the middle.

anyway, DP showed me how to push back DS's penis to clear all the gunk (well there wasn't much - but i had no clue....)

Thought i would mention to health visitor next time i get DS weighed, but is this something which corrects itself?, or do i have to do something dreadful like have the poor little mite circumcised....?Sad

any thoughts / advice please?

I have no idea about the bend but when you say "push it back" what do you mean?

This is copied from another site:

If your baby is uncircumcised, then no special care is required. You do not need to pull back the foreskin or clean underneath it. The foreskin will begin to retract when your child is older and then he can begin cleaning it. You should never try and force the foreskin to retract, as this can cause pain and irritation.

You may occasionally notice whitish lumps of matter called smegma coming from underneath your child's foreskin. This is normal and is just the shedding of old skin cells that work their way out from under the foreskin. This can also occur in children that are circumcised if they have penile adhesions. In these children, the white material may cause the adhesions to separate as it comes out.

As for the bend, like I said, no idea but I would mention it to HV if you're worried.

Not sure about the bend but you shouldn't be messing with his foreskin to clean him. It will still be attached at this age and would hurt him.

Not sure about the bend although DS3s sort of hangs to one side - the whole thing - like it isn't mounted straight, which DH says is fine but I don't think you should be retracting the foreskin. Shock

Agree with others about the foreskin. THey used to push it back in the old days but it has been found not to be necessary - normal bathing will clean it.

If you are worried about the bend it might be worth mentioning the bend to your HV next time.

no, we haven't done anything by force to DS's foreskin.
DP just slightly exposed the top and we just cleaned it with cotton wool and warm water.

I just use baby bath on the general area in his bath and i guess that is okay.
will speak to HV later this week

You don't have to expose anything. Seriously. Just a wipe over with cotton wool and warm water is fine.

Hello Romilly70,
This so funny, it's EXACTLY the same here. Even down to buying the stupid huggies (that are really awkward to get on and leave gel crystals on his bits when I change him).

I asked my HV and she just said 'they come in all shapes and sizes'.
As long as he wees ok it's nothing to worry about. There's a condition where the foreskin is too tight and it cause the penis to balloon out when he wees but its obviously not that so itsprobably just nature.

I must admit I'm a bit worried that he'll grow up to be like one of those people on embarrassing bodies with a bent willy but I guess I'll leave it a few years and see if it bothers him when he goes to school.

If you HV tells you any different please let me know!
