ds2 is becoming a little nightmare in a way that ds1 never was. ds1 could be taken anywhere and only ever needed a warning to know to behave. he had his moments but he learned very quickly to behave. ds2 seems to enjoy being naughty. he laughs. he squeals and hits when he is being removed from anything he shouldn't be near. he tantrums. he throws things and pulls hair. ds1 was never like this. what have i done wrong?

You have probably done nothing wrong. All children are different. My youngest was (is!) very much more wilful and stroppy than my eldest ever was.

Have a think about how you are reacting to situations when he is misbehaving to check you are not just reinforcing this behaviour (any attention being good etc), and then you just have to be very consistent with your approach.

My mantra - consistent, insistent and persistent.

How old are your dc? It is much harder to juggle things when there is more than one child to focus on.

ds1 is 5.5 and ds2 is 22 months.

as far as i can remember (ds seems like so long ago) i am being the same discipline wise. our life is so different now though. when i has ds1 i was working and it was just me and him. he went to a day nursery and loved it and i felt liek i had the right balance of work and home. now i am not working and we have 2 cats and a dog. the pets dont take too much attention from the dcs but i do sometimes feel like i am juggling between ds1 and ds2. they are very different temperaments and ds2 is hard to placate. when he wants soemthing, he wants it now or he will whine and squeal and hit til he gets it. with ds1 i could sit and draw and craft and play but ds2 darts from one thing to the other, you can tell where he has been in the house by the trail he leaves behind. he will just walk past something and feel the urge to knock it down or hit at it. ds1 was never liek that.
