Child "diagnosed" with hyperlexia: any experience?

I know it's not a diagnosis, but for want of a better way to word it, my best friend's son has just been identified as hyperlexic.

He is 4.2 and can read aloud more or less any text. He loves technical type texts.

Any experience or links that might be helpful? I want to support my friend and her gorgeous little boy as much as I can. She - my friend - is having a hard time coming to terms with all the issues her son presents with, so I feel that helping with the thing that he is "good" at as well as focusing on all the tricky stuff (he is AS, for ex) might be a positive move for all, but I am rather lost.

Grateful for any advice.

Hi. Sorry not much help except it's considered to be on the autism spectrum, which ties in with AS DX. Re post on Special Needs Children. You'll get much more help and they're all really nice!

Agree with posting on Special Needs. Hope you get the answers you are looking for and help you need. You sound like a good friend. I wish I had friends like you when DS2 and DS3 were diagnosed with their health problems. It would have made things a whole lot easier.
