I am worried about my dd.
She cannot pronounce the "sh" and "ch" sounds.
School are not bothered in the slightest, but I am.
Please can someone tell me at what age these sounds should be mastered?
Thank you.

Does this help?

How old is your DC?

My 4yo can't say ch, sh, gw sounds and that's normal.
I'm not a speech therapist- hopefully one will be along soon... but I have a friend whose child had some therapy. My friend said that some sounds are more difficult and are generally mastered later. Ie they are age appropriate deficits.
Some info here and here

Not a Speech Therapist but a friend is. Ds struggled with th, and r a lot in reception & friend said not to worry till after age 7, sure enough by 7 he could pronounce them - not sure about sh & ch though. I think she said r was the last sound to come?

Thanks.
DD will be 6 at beginning of May.
She has always had this odd noise instead of ch and sh.

Can't imagine anything changing in the next 3 months though.
Wish school would show a BIT of interest though. Maybe go to Health Visitor....
