My 3 year old son has a really embarassing habit of lying on his front and doing what i can only describle as humping. I have talked to him about why he does it and he says that it makes his willy feel nice. do i need a psychiatrist or have other people had experience of this. Please tell me he will grow out of it. Thought about getting in touch with HV but to be honest my one never seems to know anything i cant read for myself in a book. is it somthing to worry about and will he just grow out of it. We have to make sure he doesn't lay on his tummy to play dead lions at parties!!!

Not only is it normal, but he will carry on trying to 'my his willy feel nice' for the whole of the rest of his life
You can gently encourage him to do it in private though.

just that all my friends with boys say theirs have never done it - maybe he's just a free spirit!!!

Very normal, sorry, you will have to develop a thicker skin I'm afraid! I doubt he will grow out of it, my dp hasn't yet...

Pity my poor friend who taught her son it was only acceptable in the privacy of his own room, then found his moans and groans could be heard all over the house while he went for it!

A little girl I looked after used to have a good fiddle too, especially at times of stress, which predictably led to some embarrassment during her playgroup nativity play. I had never seen the Virgin Mary with her hand down her tights before...
