My 5 yr old boy likes to play alone

My 5 year old boy often prefers to play alone rather than with other kids at school. He is a lone child but we play with him lots & he has been in full time nursery since 6 months old, so he has interacted with other kids since an early age. Is this normal?

Hi, I don't know tbh, does he have any little friends? There are some in my ds's class (5 and 6 Year olds) who play alone at times as they get to play what they want. Have you spoken to the teacher?

My DS is the same, and the school have him on a special programme to help him to interact with the other kids better. For now they are "watchful waiting" as he has had other issues that are slowly being resolved

our ds is the same (oldest of 3) but whether its normal or not school don't like it, they say he should be playing collabritively more but I'm unclear as to the strategies they are using, he does have impared hearing as well so fingers crossed when he has grommets it will get easier if he wants to play with others.
I think as long as he can interact when he needs to then thats the main thing, check with what the teacher says?
