Potty training when they can't pull their own pants down?

Hello, My DD 23mths has shown a lot of interest in going on the potty. She's always watched her older brother do it and I guess is imitating him to a degree.

She's done a few wees in the potty and been very pleased with her self.

DS was 3 when we trained him and it took him 8mths to really get it. So I'm anxious not to fuck it up mess it up this time round!Grin

Should I consider training her or wait untill she is more physically capable of sorting out her own pulling up and down of trousers and pants?

Thank you for any opinions offered.

She just told me she needed a poo and I put her on the potty and she produced a huge poo!!
What do I do?! We're moving house in 6 weeks and I have a lot to do.
Will it matter if I put of training her till we've moved? It's likely the move will unsettle her anyway.

I trained ds at 2....he couldn't pull his trousers up and down then but it didn't make much difference as I'd have probably gone with him anyway. He's 3 in May and has, over the time since he's been potty trained become more independent-he will now just take himself off for a wee, flush the chai and (sometimes) wash hands. I still go with him obv.when we're out and about,or he'll ask for help if he has button trousers

Dd was 24m when she decided to not wear nappies anymore. She was very keen and was dry within 3 days. I just put her in looser clothes. In the house she wore dresses and skirts with pants underneath. When out I tried to avoid tights and had elasticated bottoms so easier to remove. She was an independent little thing so wanted to try it all herself.

One other tip - buy pants in the size bigger

It sounds like she is doing great! Both of my girls were potty trained before they were two with very little input from me.

DD2 was potty trained on holiday, supposidly the worst time possible, but she coped fine.

I just used to help them with their trousers for quite a few months.

I see no need for you to put it off.

My son decided at 2yrs 4 months the day we moved out of our old house into the in-laws spare room along with most of our posessions for a week before we could move into our new house that he wanted to start potty training and would never wear a nappy even a pull up ever again. Everyone said we were mad to let him but he was ready and it worked out fine.

baggy shorts or trews and no pants under.
If you really want to put pants on them , use some that are on the big side.

go with it.

both mine couldn't manage clothes when trained - but as they were going to need bum wiping a bit longer its not that much hassle -

this morning i found DD1 (3) pulling down Ds trousers for him, and telling him to sit on the potty....

We've just started with my 18mo! I thought she was too young but she's saying 'poo' and 'wee' and then producing on the potty so we're going with it. I've got her in pull ups but in the house she's just naked from the waist down as the pull ups are a bit big. Just really going with the flow....

lanbro, this is a zombie thread, bumped by I don't know who/what/why.

Good luck with potty training.
