My 8 and half old ds just loves being on his feet all the time and is curious to explore everything. However he now seems to have lost interest in his walker which only gets used in kitchen as pile to thick on other carpets and his leapfrog activity centre. Does anyone have any other ideas for good equipment to save me having to walk with him all the time - kills my back!! He is very strong on his legs, but has not yet mastered balance!!! Its even getting to the point where he wont sit and play for very long - jsut wants to be up!!!!

have you tried a door bouncer? both my dcs loved ours.

I agree with headfairy - we got one and our 8 and a half month old loves it!

I had a Fisher Price Hop and Pop which my DS absolutely loved, it was a godsend - may not be all that different to the activity centre though

How about a "V-Tech" push along walker?, only problem being you may have to help him "turn it" for a bit until he masters that!

My ds used to love using it as a swing, he used to pull dd back and let her swing and she'd scream with laughter. Twas very funny!

Thanks, we have door bouncer - likes it for a while, but then gets fed up because he cant go anywhere. And yes to v tech walker as well, although he still needs guiding to use it as it tends to run away with him!!!! Thankyou though

a wheelybug? dd pushed hers around for ages before she actually rode on it. Might be helpful for him.

IME if he's up on his feet and keen to explore he'll probably be walking soon anyway. Both mine walked at 9 months and were cruising at 8 months.

You could try one of those push along toys you can get from toys r us, that converts into a little car when babies get older.
this

My nephew had that and he absolutely loved it, and then it turned in a car when he got older.
It sounds like your DS is nearly ready to walk - my DD started walking at 10 months, and prior to that, she would be on her feet the whole time. She crawled only for about 2 months!

Can totally sympathise! My 8.5 year old exactly the same - no interest in crawling! Interested to hear what others suggest as i have no idea how to make it easier!! Have leap frog centre and bouncer too!
