4 month old become very clingy??

Hi

I have a very alert, smiley and sociable 4 month old. She has always been cuddly but used to let me put her down on her play mat for at least half an hour. She has been ill recently and since then won't let me put her down for long enough to make a cup of tea. She also used to sleep through the night but now wakes every hour.

Have tried putting her in different positions and places as well as giving lots of reassurance. Have tried staying with her. She seems to be teething sometimes but it does not seem to be linked. She doesn't like anyone else holding her amymore but is ok with my husband for a short while before wanting to come back to me. Am not sure whether clinging and waking in night are linked.

Does anyone have any advice?!?! Developed terrible tendonitis from holding her so much so keen to try anything!

4 months is a tricky time! I don't think babies can be 'clingy' though, she just needs you a lot at the moment. Have you thought about using a sling or baby carrier so you can get on with things without having to put her down? Don't worry about creating bad habits or spoiling her or anything like that, all that stuff is a bunch of bobbins.

If you do a search on the 4 month sleep regression I'm sure you'll find lots of similar threads with advice and sympathy!

@Sweetipie
Hi, this is a very old post I know. Your 4 month old is now a happy perfectly sociable I’m assuming 13 year old!
Was just wondering how you got on as they became older. My little boy is almost 4 months and Hoenstly, just wants me all the time. It’s so exhausting!!!
doesn’t even go to his dad:-(((
