Moving on from sleeping bags ...

My DD is 20 mths (and tall with it) and has started showing a lot of interest in our bed and getting under the covers and snuggling in. She's in 18 to 36 month gro bags at the mo.

When did you move your toddler out of grobags and into proper bedding? Any recommendations as to what bedding to buy? Did you do it at the same time as moving to big bed, or can I leave DD in her cot but still use a duvet? Should I give her a pillow?

Any ideas much appreciated!

I moved mine int proper bedding with pillows when they moved into a bed. I wouldn't use a
Duvet until you have to. Grobags are so much easier and I'd also be worried about them slipping under the duvet in a cot.

I also moved out of grobags when we moved DS into a bed, at two and three months (as this coincided with January and the sales!). I was worried because I thought he might not get on with duvets/ pillows, but it was fine.

Bumpsadaisie - dd2 is the same, 20 months, 99.6% height and loves playing beds in our bed. I actually checked only yesterday how much room she had left in the grobag, but it's a few inches yet.

I think it depends on how your daughter sleeps. We didn't give dd1 a duvet until the sleeping bags became an actual problem, so nearer 3 for her. Then took the bars off her cot bed a few weeks later.

But - dd1 doesn't really move much when she's asleep. Dd2 thumps around all night and ends up sleeping across the cot/feet to head/any which way. So I'm definitely going to keep the bags going as long as possible (I might even get some 3+ ones later).

Basically, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
