DD terrified of her own bed

DD is 3.6, and just lately has been coming into our bedroom crying that she is scared of her bedroom. She is happy to go to sleep in there at bedtime, but about midnight she wakes up crying and saying she doesn't like her bed and she is scared. We've asked her why, and she either says she is just scared or says spiders like her bed and she doesn't like spiders. Now admittedly we do live in a creaky old house and it does have some spiders in it, but they aren't just confined to dd's room! We can't switch her to another room as we only have two bedrooms, and ours is crowded enough already with me, oh and ds. Our extension will be built by summer, but I am not sure I can last another 6 months of being kept awake by both children, and feel a bit sad when I have take her back crying and pleading she is scared into her own room. Her room is only feet away from ours, btw. Any suggestions or thoughts?

get her involved in making it a more secure place to be... a trip to buy a night light... maybe a canopy above her bed?
