First time you breastfed in front of Friends/Family?

This is based on a convo I had the other day.

How did you friends/family respond when you breastfed infront of them, positively?negatively? do you mind doing it in front of mixed genders?in public? any nasty incidents.
who fed in public with no problems?

I was 19 when I had my son and infront of female family apaprt from my partner I was okay with I was discreet, had a blanket over my arm to shield so not all was hanging out. out of respect to them. My mates were all the same age and was anxious about BF infront of them. they were okay they all support BF and some were like'I'm going out for a fag' but I thoughtthey may feel more uncomfortable then me. I was never brave enough to BF in publi, we have a long way to go interms of countries like france I think. Also i'm quite large chested, so I felt there was no way of doing it discreetly. Anyone else have this hang up?

I never had a problem feeding in front of anyone. The first time I did in front of my pil's I was a bit embarrased becaause it was the first time I had fed out of the house/out of pjs and dressing gown so stupidly hadn't thought about dressing approriately and wore a top that couldn't be pulled up or down. I had to just lop my boob over the top of it so that was the only time I covered with a muslin.

My own father is a bit strange with it, he always went out of the room to have a smoke and made no bones about the fact that it embarrased him. I was the first person in a few genrerations of my family to bf so I can just remember my mum being amazed as she wasn't allowed to (nothing to do with my father), and my brother was astounded and asked the first time if he could watch(!) as his baby had died after a few days in special care so he has always been very interested in other babies.

Maybe I'm self absorbed but I never once noticed anyone staring, giving dirty looks or giving me abuse for bf.
